Call for consultants: #ShiftThePower Global Summit Coordinator
06 Feb 2026
About the GFCF and #ShiftThePower
The GFCF works to strengthen, harness and demonstrate the value of community philanthropy as an essential element of community-led development and as a strategy for shifting power. Through small grants, technical support, peer exchange and evidence based learning, the GFCF helps to strengthen community philanthropy institutions around the world, so that they can fulfil their potential as vehicles for locally-led development, and as part of the larger global infrastructure for progressive social change.
#ShiftThePower is a mobilizing force and movement of people and organizations around the world that seeks to highlight, harness, resource, legitimize and join up new ways of “deciding and doing” that are emerging around the world. The movement is galvanizing a vision of a good society and serving as a force for genuine and lasting change in how development work is done.
Background to the #ShiftThePower Global Summit
The call to #ShiftThePower emerged from the 2016 Global Summit on Community Philanthropy in Johannesburg. Since then, the movement has held two additional large-scale in-person gatherings: the Pathways to Power Symposium in London in 2019, and the #ShiftThePower Global Summit in Bogotá in 2023. The latter attracted 730 participants from 77 countries. A follow-up report on the effects of the Bogotá Summit can be found here.
From 2 – 4 December 2026, the next #ShiftThePower Global Summit will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal. This will be co-hosted by allies from the movement, including Accountability Lab Nepal and Tewa – the Nepal Women’s Fund.
