Philanthropy with a gender perspective – A manual for its implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean
This handbook aims to enable donor organizations and individuals to reflect in depth on their policies, programmes and forms of support, and in the process to make the necessary internal and external modifications in order for their contributions to social justice and democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean to be more effective, sustainable and daring.
The handbook has a specific focus on women’s rights and gender inequality. From the research undertaken to prepare the handbook, it became clear that there is a lack of investment in these areas due to: a lack of structural knowledge on the issues; and, the lack of concrete tools and examples of how a focus on these areas can be better integrated into policies, programmes and support. The handbook makes the case that it is urgent to reverse this trend, and that more and better resources need to be mobilized in pursuit of women’s rights and gender inequality.
