Fourth Olga Alexeeva Prize to be awarded at Global Summit on Community Philanthropy – call for nominations!

Olga Alexeeva The GFCF is pleased to announce the launch of the fourth Olga Alexeeva Memorial Prize. The annual prize was established in memory of Olga Alexeeva, founder of Philanthropy Bridge Foundation (PBF), by former PBF trustees in honour of her memory and beliefs. The prize will be awarded to an individual who has demonstrated remarkable leadership, creativity and results in developing philanthropy for progressive social change in an emerging market country or countries. The £5,000 prize will be for the individual winner to use at their discretion.
The GFCF is organizing the prize in association with Alliance magazine and WINGS. The aim of this collaboration is to broaden the reach of the prize. Working through our various constituencies, we hope we will be able to identify a diverse group of candidates from a greater range of countries. A shortlist of up to six finalists will be developed by the three founders of the prize:
- Maria Chertok of CAF Russia, a former PBF trustee
- Caroline Hartnell Alliance consultant and former PBF chair
- Jenny Hodgson of the GFCF and a former PBF adviser
The final winner of the prize will then be selected by a panel of judges, to be announced. We are pleased to confirm that Andre Degenszajn of GIFE will be the Chair of the judges’ panel. The winner will be invited to deliver a keynote speech at the Global Summit on Community Philanthropy in Johannesburg in December. In addition, all shortlisted candidates will be invited to the Summit as special guests, and profiled in a special supplement in the September 2016 issue of Alliance magazine and on the Alliance website. The prize and all associated activities are generously funded by the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, CS Mott Foundation and The Lodestar Foundation.
