23 May 2025
We are delighted to share that Nishchhal Kharal (a.k.a. “Nish”) has joined the GFCF team as Campaign Associate. This will be for a period of three months, while he also pursues a Master’s in International Development Policy at Duke University.
Nish will already be familiar to many in the GFCF and #ShiftThePower networks. He is an artist, activist. and social entrepreneur from Kathmandu, Nepal, currently based in North Carolina, US. He is the co-founder and former president of We for Change (2012 – 2017), a youth-led movement focused on civic engagement and leadership, and is the founder and CEO of Freedom Studio (2020 onwards), a global creative company advancing social change through strategy, story-telling and healing-centered design. As Campaign Associate at the GFCF, his focus is on designing and implementing creative campaigns that reimagine philanthropy from the bottom-up, supporting efforts to shift power, tell grassroots stories and mobilize resources for grassroots-led development.
Nish was a 2023 / 2024 #ShiftThePower Fellow and contributed significantly to the #TooSouthernToBeFunded campaign – see his blog on tied aid here.
