Haitian leaders on transforming Haiti – new #BuildingPathways webinar series

05 Aug 2021

For decades, Haiti has been in a crisis mode. The world’s first Black republic is commonly referred to as “the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere,” and its people and communities are too often described as hopeless, helpless, and incapable of leadership — a fallacy. The truth: Haitians are leaders, not victims. In this current time of crisis, it’s time for Haitian leaders to have their say on Haiti. What they have done, what they think and why the country will not move forward if they don’t lead the way.

The Haiti Community Foundation Network invites you to Building Pathways: Haitian Leaders on Transforming Haiti, a series of free webinars that create space for the conversations that need to happen: Haitian leaders talking about their vision, initiatives, and perspectives on transforming Haiti. The series is designed to raise awareness in the international community of Haiti’s local leaders, who are critical to effective and sustainable development for the country. These conversations will build pathways that bridge local leaders, diaspora communities, and international stakeholders, and advance a set of recommendations for turning Haiti into a developing nation as opposed to a “failed state.”

The opening webinar will be held on Thursday 5 August, from 10:30am – 12pm EDT, and will focus on the Social Change Sector, with the following organizations: The Haiti Community Foundation; Lakou Lapè; Kafou Lespwa; La Grande Fondation D’Haiti.

Additional events are being added, including the following topics:

  • The Environment (Thursday 19 August)
  • Business and Economy (Thursday 2 September)
  • Education (Thursday 16 September)
  • Health (Thursday 30 September)
  • The Cultural Sector (Thursday 14 October)

All webinars will be held from 10:30am – 12pm Eastern Daylight Time. For more information or to register, see here.
