Comunalia celebrates 10 years of partnership-building to strengthen communities

Join Comunalia – the Alliance of Community Foundations in Mexico – and its members, as well as other civil society organizations and grassroots groups, to celebrate 10 years of Comunalia! Over the week of 8 – 12 November 2021 Comunalia will be organizing a series of online events for its members and wider community. Sessions will explore the experiences, learnings, challenges and opportunities of community foundations from across Mexico, with specific webinars on strengthening organizations, fundraising, the global movement to #ShiftThePower, as well as a presentation of research on local resource mobilization by grassroots groups. Tuesday 9 November (10h30 – 12h30 CDMX time): The role of strengthening organizations

Lucía Hidalgo from Alternativas y Capacidades, David Pérez Rulfo from Corporativa de Fundaciones, Cristina Ruiz from CEMEFI and Mauricio Canseco of yCo Centro de Fortalecimiento will share their learnings, reflections and challenges from their work in training and strengthening other civil society organizations. Register here

 

Tuesday 9 November (16h – 18h CDMX time): Fundraising strategies

Laura Muñoz from the Alianza Fronteriza de la Filantropía, shares basic tips to design and implement fundraising strategies. Register here

 

Wednesday 10 November (10h30 – 12h30 CDMX time): The role of community foundations in the #ShiftThePower movement

Jenny Hodgson, GFCF Executive Director, will speak about the global #ShiftThePower movement; a movement that aims to tip the balance to ensure that local people have control over the resources they need in order to build the communities they want. Register here

 

Friday 12 November (10h30 – 12h30 CDMX time): Results of a study on local resource mobilization by grassroots groups

Arrecife, an initiative of the Fondo de Acción Solidaria A.C., will present the results of a study exploring how grassroots groups in Mexico mobilize local funds. Arrecife is a coalition of philanthropic organizations that seeks to stimulate a philanthropic culture in Mexico that directs more funding to grassroots organizations, particularly those that have a focus on social, environmental and economic justice.
